FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks pounded out 15 hits to defeat the Moorhead Brewers amateur team 12-0 on Monday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.
The RedHawks were led offensively by Enrique Cruz, who was 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored. Ryan Delgado finished 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Nic Jackson was 3-for-4 with a double, and RBI and three runs scored. Zach Penprase also scored three runs and was 2-for-4.
Fargo-Moorhead's pitching allowed just two singles, both to former RedHawks and NDSU Bison star Matt Mann. Dan Morari pitched 2.0 hitless innings and was credited with the victory. Starter Aaron Shafer allowed one hit and struck out two batters in 2.0 innings. Other RedHawks pitchers seeing action were Joe Harris (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K), Alex Rivers (2.0 IP, 0 H, 3 K), Kevin Fuqua (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 K) and Tom Boleska (1.0 IP, 2 K).
The RedHawks will hold workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday at Newman Outdoor Field before embarking on a two week road trip that starts with three exhibition games against the Lincoln Saltdogs starting Thursday night at Haymarket Park. Fargo-Moorhead will open the 2012 American Association season on Thursday, May 17 against the El Paso Diablos at Diablo Stadium. The 2012 Home Opener is Friday, May 25 against the Sioux Falls Pheasants.
