
Redhawks rip the Zephyrs

The New Orleans Zephyrs struggles continued on Friday night in Oklahoma City as the Redhawks scored five runs in the eighth inning to cap a 10-1 win at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The Z's have dropped six in a row and have been outscored 36-5 in their past three games. Redhawks starter Michael Kirkman kept the Z's hitters off balance working 6.2 shutout innings allowing 4 hits and struck-out 8 batters in the win. The Redhawks scored a run in the second inning with a Mitch Moreland RBI single. Z's starter Ryan Tucker takes the loss pitching six innings and allowed 4 runs. The Z's bullpen was touched up for six runs, including 5 in the eighth inning. The Z's trailed 10-0 when Jason Lane led off the ninth with a double and scored on a Lee Mitchell double.
Game Notes: The Zephyrs have lost three consecutive games by 9 or more runs, for the first time in franchise history. The Z's activated and reassigned pitcher Andrew Miller to Class A Jupiter.
