Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers enlisted some extra-inning heroics from Tommy Everidge to power past Reno 8-6 at Cheney Stadium on Tuesday.

The designated hitter Everidge belted a two-run home run with one on and one out in the bottom of the 14th inning to break up a 6-6 tie and give Tacoma the edge.

The Rainiers had held a 5-3 lead over the Aces heading into the ninth when Reno catcher Carlos Corporan blasted a two-run shot in the top of the inning to lock things up at five-all. An error from Rainiers first baseman Jack Hannahan later in the inning scored Reno outfielder Doug Deeds and put the Aces on top 6-5.

Tacoma battled back in the bottom of the ninth, rallying to tie the game at six thanks to Hannahan's single that drove in Ezequiel Carrera from second and paved the way to the extra-innings affair.

Reliever Brian Sweeney earned the win in the outing after holding the Aces scoreless over the final 4.1 innings of the night. The right-hander gave up just three hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Getting tagged with the loss was Reno's Jose Marte, who gave up Everidge's bomb after just 0.1 innings of action in the 14th.

Thursday night's starter for Tacoma, David Pauley, put on an impressive display in a no decision. The right-hander allowed just one run on three hits over six innings of work.

The Rainiers return to the field tomorrow night when they send left-hander Garrett Olson to the mound to take on Reno righty Josh Collmenter. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with Friday Fireworks immediately following the conclusion of the game.
