Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, N.D. - The Kansas City T-Bones (32-41) snapped the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks' four-game home win streak with an 8-4 victory Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in front of a sell-out crowd of 4,593. RedHawks starter LHP Jeff Icenogle pitched 6.0 innings and gave-up three runs (all earned) for the no-decision. T-Bones reliever RHP Cody McAllister (5-3) earns his fifth win of the season.
The RedHawks worked T-Bones ace LHP Luis Villarreal for a 30-pitch first inning. Leading off for the RedHawks was Mike Coles who cued a ball to short and legged out the infield single. SS Zach Penprase drew a walk and 1B Ruben Salazar blooped a RBI single to the left-field gap. The RedHawks benefited from a passed ball before 3B Jeremiah Piepkorn doubled Penprase and Salazar home to give the RedHawks a 3-0 first-inning lead.
In the second inning, T-Bones DH Jim Fasano worked a walk and reached second on a passed ball. CF Aharon Eggleston singled Fasano home and the T-Bones crept within two runs. But the RedHawks got the run back. CF Nic Jackson gave the RedHawks a three-run fifth-inning cushion when he turned into a 1-2 offering from Villarreal for his 15th home run of the season.
In the sixth-inning, the T-Bones crept within a run. 2B Neb Brown hit a right-field flare and reached second on a wild pitch. Icenogle issued a walk to Fasano and 3B Jacob Blackwood doubled to the left-field gap to make it 4-3. The T-Bones rallied in the seventh. Eggleston drew a leadoff walk and Rolls looped a ball to left. Eggleston tied the game on RF Greg Jacobs fielder's choice and Jacobs gave the T-Bones the 5-4 go-ahead run on Brown's double to dead-center. In their last at-bats, the T-Bones plated three-runs for a ninth-inning 8-4 lead.
The RedHawks and T-Bones play in the finale of this four-game series tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field. LHP Broc Coffman (8-4, 5.40) will toe the rubber for the RedHawks and RHP Derek Duclos (0-3, 4.91) will get the ball for the T-Bones. Game-time is 7:02 p.m.
