Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
Fargo, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Northern League have announced the signing of rookie catcher Casey Haugen. Haugen, 23, will be with the team as they travel to Schaumburg for the club's first road series of the 2007 season.
Making his first professional stop, Haugen joins the Fargo-Moorhead team after finishing his collegiate career at St. John's University earlier in the year. As a Johnnie in 2007, he hit .319 with ten extra-base hits, 35 runs scored, 19 RBIs, and one homerun. He also stole eight bases and posted a .989 fielding percentage. For his performance in '07, Haugen was named to the D-III All-Midwest Region second team. He was also honored as an All-Conference selection in the MIAC.
The team released infielder Nate Meissner (rookie) to make room for Haugen. Meissner, who was signed during training camp, did not make a regular season appearance for the RedHawks.
