Reddehase Named Turf Manager of the Year
September 8, 2009 - Texas League (TL1)
Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi Hooks field superintendent Garrett Reddehase has been named the Texas League's Turf Manager of the Year in voting by league managers and umpires. The announcement was made today by league president Tom Kayser.
Reddehase, who has been involved with the grounds crew at Whataburger Field since the building of the facility in 2005, has been the club's head groundskeeper since October of 2007. Reddehase was a part of the grounds crew when Whataburger Field was recognized as the best playing surface in the league during the inaugural 2005 season.
In the interim, Whataburger Field was voted the second-best playing surface in the eight-team league in 2007 and 2008, and each year picked as the top field in the South Division.
Reddehase and Whataburger Field are now under consideration by the Sports Turf Managers Association for the Double-A classification award, which went to Whataburger Field and then-field superintendent Brad Detmore in 2005. The Double-A award pits Reddehase and Whataburger Field against the top playing surfaces from the Eastern League and the Southern League.
