Ottawa RedBlacks News Release

OTTAWA-GATINEAU - Henry Burris, the REDBLACKS' veteran quarterback who set an Ottawa CFL record for passing yards in one game with 477 on Saturday in Regina, has been honoured for his record-shattering performance.

The 40-year-old veteran has been named the Shaw CFL Top Performer for Week 13.

Burris also set a benchmark for completions in a single game by an Ottawa CFL quarterback, connecting on 35 passes on 45 attempts. He also threw for two touchdowns and rushed for 16 yards and a major during the REDBLACKS' third consecutive victory, a 30-27 nail-biter over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium.

Chris Isaac held the previous Ottawa CFL record for passing yards in one game; 471 yards against the Montreal Alouettes on July 29, 1982.

This is the second time Burris has been named a Shaw CFL Top Performer; he also received the honour in July following a 29-26 overtime win over the Calgary Stampeders at TD Place in Week 5.

The REDBLACKS, with a record of seven wins and four losses, return to practice on Tuesday, September 22 at TD Place. Practice begins at 11:15 a.m. and will end at approximately 1:20 p.m.

The next REDBLACKS game is on Saturday, August 26 at TD Place against the Toronto Argonauts; a match which is sold out.

It's the first of four straight games for the REDBLACKS at TD Place, including a match on Tuesday, October 6 against the Argos, a game originally scheduled to take place in Toronto at Rogers Centre, but moved to Ottawa to accommodate the schedule of the Toronto Blue Jays.
