Shaw CFL Top Performers of Week 13 Named

September 22, 2015 - Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

TORONTO - Henry Burris, Chris Rainey, and Stefan Logan were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 13 of the CFL's 2015 season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | HENRY BURRIS | OTTAWA REDBLACKS

Henry Burris had a fantastic weekend, racking up a Ottawa franchise record of 477 passing yards and two touchdown passes to tip the Ottawa REDBLACKS over the Saskatchewan Roughriders 30-27 on Saturday.

Burris, a product of Temple University, went 35 for 45 on passes and helped the sophomore franchise to their first-ever three-game win streak.

The Spiro, OK native utilized his stable of receivers, connecting on passes to press for touchdowns in a thrilling close win. In addition to the two touchdown passes, he tacked on another major and 16 yards on seven rush attempts.

Burris found receiver Greg Ellingson for 17-yard major in the second quarter and then followed that with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Chris Williams in third. Burris also called his own number and rushed one from a yard out in the fourth.

Burris is currently second overall in passing yards, with 3,298 on the season.

RB | CHRIS RAINEY | MONTREAL ALOUETTES

B.C. Lions returner Chris Rainey was named a Shaw CFL Top Performer following his impressive performance against the Calgary Stampeders in the Lions' 35-23 loss.

The 5'8" running back returned a punt 103 yards for a touchdown as well as a 103-yard kickoff to begin the second half at McMahon Stadium.

In total, Rainey had six punt returns for 147 yards along with five kickoffs for 186 yards in the game for a total of 333 yards, a B.C. Lions record.

Rainey, a product of University of Florida, became only the fourth player to have returned a punt and kickoff for touchdowns in the same game. The last time the feat occurred was in 1991 by Calgary's Pee Wee Smith.

This season the Lakeland, Florida native leads the CFL in punt return yards with 290 while averaging 22.3 yards per carry. Rainey also has 335 yards in kickoff return yards with an impressive 41.9 return yard average.

During his college days with the Florida Gators, Rainey was also part of the 4x100m track team and was an All-American in 2008 (3rd place) and 2010 (1st place).

RB | STEFAN LOGAN | MONTREAL ALOUETTES

Stefan Logan racked up 138 yards on three kick returns and ran for a 78-yard punt return touchdown to help the Montreal Alouettes beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 35-14 on Sunday.

The former South Dakota Coyote started the game off with a bang by advancing the ball for 35 yards on the punt return to give Boris Bede the opportunity to land the first field goal of the game and give the Alouettes the lead.

Logan sprinted 78 yards for a touchdown at the close of the second quarter to give the Alouettes a 22-3 first-quarter lead. At the opening of the third quarter, he returned the kickoff 95 yards, putting SJ Green in a great position to catch a Crompton pass for a touchdown on the next play.

The Tampa, FL native leads the league in combined return yards with 1651 on the season.
