Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
PAPILLION, NE - Omaha third baseman Humberto Arteaga drove in a run and tallied three hits in addition to centerfielder Billy Burns and shortstop Nicky Lopez each driving in a run, however a strong outing from Memphis starter Kevin Herget and a three-run homer from RF Adolis Garcia powered Memphis to a 6-3 victory Friday night at Werner Park.
Memphis got out to a quick start for the second straight night. The Redbirds strung together four hits in the second inning including a two-run double from LF Randy Arozarena to quickly pull ahead 3-0. Garcia then went deep for the second straight night in the third inning to extend the Memphis lead to six.
Burns put the Storm Chasers on the board in the fifth with a sharply hit single, Nicky Lopez later singled in a run in the seventh; Arteaga followed several batters later with another RBI knock to pull within three. Arteaga (3-4, R, 2B, RBI) and 2B Jack Lopez (2-3, 2 R, BB) both recorded multi-hit games for Omaha.
Memphis starter Herget (6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 5 K) earned his sixth win after pitching six solid innings and Edward Mujica (0.1 IP) recorded his ninth save of the season. Omaha starter Jake Kalish (6.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 K) suffered the defeat, while the bullpen duo of Richard Lovelady (2.0 IP, H, K) and Michael Mariot (1.0 IP, H) silenced Memphis down the stretch with three shutout frames.
