Rochester Red Wings News Release

TONIGHTfS GAME: The Red Wings and Mud Hens (Tigers) wrap up their four-game set with a matinee Tuesday afternoon (1:05 p.m.) with the Wings looking to earn a split of the series after Toledo took two of the first three games... Despite last nightfs 12-4 setback, the Wings have still won 10 of their last 15 contests to move within 8.0 games of first-place Pawtucket in the IL North...Toledo has proven to be a tough out despite owning the worst record in the IL at 25-41 and the worst road record in the league at 9-26. The Mud Hens have won 5 of their last 6 and 9 out of 13 overall... After an off-day on Wednesday, the Wings will welcome the Gwinnett Braves to town for a four-game series beginning Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.

PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF: 1B/OF Chris Colabello continued his assault on Triple-A pitching this season going 3-for-5 with an RBI on Monday to raise his average to a league leading .359... It was Colabellofs first game at Frontier Field since May 17. Since the home fans last saw the current top IL All-Star vote-getter, Colabello has made three trips to the Big Leagues. His last stint was his shortest as he served as the Twins 26th man for their doubleheader on Sunday in Washington. Due to the back-and-forth, prior to last night, Colabello had just 29 at-bats over a 19-day span (May 22-June 9) after starting the first 46 games of the season for the Red Wings. He showed no rust, however, ripping three singles to the left side on Monday.

DOING THE DOUGIE: With Doug Bernierfs two-run double in the 4th inning on Monday he extended his season-long hit streak to 9 games over which hefs batting .367 (11-for-30) with a triple, 3 doubles, 7 runs and 6 RBI... This is the longest hitting streak for Bernier since a 9-gamer April 24-May 5, 2005 with Tulsa (AA). A hit on Tuesday would tie his career-high streak of 10 set in 2004 with Visalia (A) and he would also become just the second Red Wings player this season with a 10-game hitting streak (Colabello, 16)... The 32-year-old shortstop, normally known for his defense, is second on the club with 27 RBI this season as he leads the teams with 19 hits with runners in scoring position (19-for-61; .311)... Only three times in his 11 prior pro seasons has he eclipsed 27 RBI in a season as Bernier is on pace to shatter his career-high of 42 RBI set in e08 with Colorado Springs (AAA).

BIG LEAGUERS IN TOWN: The Red Wingsf Trevor Plouffe (0-for-3; R, BB, SO) and Toledofs Austin Jackson (0-for-5; BB, 3 SO) both began Major League rehab assignments on Monday night at Frontier Field. Plouffe hadnft played with Minnesota since May 21 as he suffered a concussion and strained left calf in separate incidents. Prior to going on the DL, the 26-year-old who turns 27 on Saturday, was hitting .254 with 4 HR and 17 RBI in 37 games with the Twins... Jackson, meanwhile, pulled his hamstring and has been on the DL since May 12. The former Yankees prospect was batting .272 with 2 HR and 11 RBI in 34 games.

¨Plouffe hit .261 with 46 home runs and 181 RBI in 339 games over parts of five seasons in Rochester from 2008-12.

HOLY TOLEDO: The Mud Hens, who have statistically been one of the worst offensive teams in the IL this season, have had no problem scoring runs against the Red Wings this season. Toledo has averaged 5.9 runs per game against Rochester and outscored the Wings 41-21 in the first 7 games between the two clubs this season while out-homering the Wings 9-3 -- including 7 long balls in this series... On the mound, the Mud Hens have the second-best ERA (3.66) in the IL and have lived up to that billing against the Wings this season, posting a 2.61 ERA (20 ER/69.0 IP) and limiting Red Wingsf hitters to a .222 average.

¨Bernier (10-for-27 with 6 RBI) and Colabello (7-for-24 with 4 RBI) have had the most success against Toledo this season.

WORLEY BACK AT HOME: RHP Vance Worley will make his first start at Frontier Field since tossing his second career 9-inning complete-game shutout on Memorial Day against Lehigh Valley. In fact, his last two starts at Frontier Field have been complete-games as he tossed a six-inning CG in a loss as a member of the IronPigs on April 14, 2011 (6.0, 4 h, 3r/er, 2 hr) against the Red Wings... Since his May 27 gem, Worley has gone 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in a pair of road starts in Charlotte and Gwinnett... Worley was the Twins Opening Day starter but went 1-5 with a 7.21 ERA in 10 GS and was optioned to ROC on 5/22.

BERESFORD DEBUTS: INF James Beresford made his Triple-A debut on Monday going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk while batting from the nine-hole and playing second base... The 24-year-old, who played for Team Australia in the 2009 and e13 WBC, began the year in New Britain hitting .316 with 19 RBI in 45 games... Beresford is the 11th Red Wings player to make their Triple-A debut this season with Rochester.

MORE ABOUT LAST NIGHT...:

¨Deibinson Romero had his season-long 8-game hit streak snapped a game short of tying his career high.

¨Cole De Vries tied his own team high w/ 8 ER allowed... Hefs now allowed 26 ER in 5 GS -- Gibson has allowed 28 ER in 13 GS.

¨Dan Rohlfing picked up another hit and has recorded a base knock in 11 of his first 12 Triple-A games batting .359 (14-39).
