
Red Wings best IronPigs on Opening Night

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (0-1) lost 4-2 on Opening Night against the Rochester Red Wings (1-0). Lehigh Valley is now 4-8 all-time in season openers.
Red Wings short stop Ronald Torreyes homered off IronPigs starting pitcher Cole Irvin in the top of the first inning to give Rochester a 1-0 lead. Lehigh Valley answered in the bottom of the second inning by taking a 2-1 lead against Red Wings starting pitcher Kohl Stewart. Mitch Walding hit an RBI single that scored Phil Gosselin. Then Dylan Cozens scored on a fielding error by catcher Tomas Telis.
Stewart proceed to allow just three baserunners of the next four innings for the Red Wings. Rochester tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning as Wilin Rosario homered off Irvin. The left-hander left the game after the fifth inning and passed the baton to Edgar Garcia (0-1).
Third baseman Randy Cesar hit a two-run home run off Garcia in the top of the sixth inning to give Rochester a 4-2 lead.
Lehigh Valley's Austin Davis struck out three batters in 1 2/3 innings in relief of Tom Windle, who only recorded one.
The IronPigs are back at it on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. RHP Enyel De Los Santos will get the ball for the Pigs. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
