FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Pawtucket Red Sox at Knights Stadium on Tuesday. The Knights managed only one run in each of the two games losing game one 6-1 and game two 5-1.

In the first game, the Red Sox snagged an early lead in the first inning on a Ryan Lavarnway two-run homer off of Knights starting pitcher Matt Zaleski. The Knights got one back in the bottom of the second on a Drew Garcia RBI-double before the game was suspended with one out in the top of the third inning. The two teams resumed the nine inning game on Tuesday in the top of the 3rd inning after the game was suspended due to unplayable grounds.

Lavarnway would homer again in the sixth inning off Knights reliever Dan Remenowsky and Scott Carroll added a homer of his own in the eighth.

Red Sox reliever Scott Atchison struck out five through 3.0 scoreless innings of work to earn the win. Zaleski fell to 4-5 on the season in the rain-shortened start.

In the second game, Pawtucket starting pitcher Matt Fox had a perfect game through 5.2 innings until Jordan Danks broke it up with a single to left-center field. The hit was followed by another RBI-double from Garcia that would score Danks for the Knights only run in the game.

Lars Anderson hit his 27th double of the season in the first to give the Red Sox the lead. Pawtucket would later score on a two run home run from Daniel Nava in the 5th inning. Fox earned the win striking out eight through 6.0 innings and Knights starter Deunte Heath picked up the loss and now falls to 2-6 on the season.

The Knights and Red Sox continue the four-game series tomorrow at 7:15 PM at Knights Stadium. RHP Dylan Axelrod will start for Charlotte and RHP Brandon Duckworth will start for Pawtucket.
