The Lead: The Pawtucket Red Sox defeated the Gwinnett Braves 6-5 on Tuesday night at Coolray Field. The loss snaps a five-game win streak for the G-Braves. This was Pawtucket's first win over the G-Braves at Coolray Field in eight tries. Gwinnett (14-13) remains in second place in the International League South and are now 3 games behind Durham. Pawtucket (10-16) sits in last place in the IL North.

It Was Over When: In the 9th inning with the G-Braves ahead 5-4, RHP Cory Gearrin gave up 2 runs that would put the Paw Sox ahead for good.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Starter Chris Resop pitched 5.0 innings and struck out 4 batters. Vladimir Nunez struck out 3 in 2.0 IP. Gearrin (0-1) allowed 2 R/ER on 1 hit in 1.1 IP.

At the plate: Center fielder Gregor Blanco went 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. First baseman Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Starter Randor Bierd gave up 5 runs (4 ER) on 6 hits in 4.0 IP. Joe Nelson (2-1) allowed 4 hits and struck out 1 in 2.0 IP.

At the plate: Shortstop Angel Sanchez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Second baseman Tug Hulett went 1-for-3 with a run scored. First baseman Lars Anderson went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

On Deck: Gwinnett will have their first off day tomorrow before traveling to Syracuse in game one of a four-game series Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Alliance Bank Stadium. It will be the first game of an eight-game road trip in which they will face off against the Syracuse Chiefs and the Pawtucket Red Sox.
