Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws today announced that forward Lawrence Hill has been invited to participate in the NBA Development League Haier Shooting Stars Competition this weekend, part of the NBA Development League Dream Factory presented by Haier. The innovative skills competition is modeled after the popular NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm and returns for the fifth consecutive year to Center Court at NBA Jam Session on Saturday, February 25.

The third-annual Shooting Stars Competition features 12 NBA D-League talents competing in four teams of three in a two-round timed shooting event. Joining Hill in this year's competition: Marqus Blakely (Sioux Falls), Jerome Dyson (Tulsa) Keith McLeod (Erie), Elijah Millsap (Los Angeles), Jerry Smith (Springfield), Edwin Ubiles (Dakota Wizards), Osiris Eldridge (Bakersfield Jam), Tyren Johnson (Rio Grande Valley Vipers), Cameron Jones (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), Leo Lyons (Austin Toros), and Terrico White (Idaho Stampede).

The contest features six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. Each team will select a specific player rotation to follow throughout the competition. Each shot must be made before the next player begins shooting in succession. Teams have up to two minutes to complete the entire shooting course, and the team that completes all six shots in the least amount of time is the winner. In the case of a tie, a shoot-off will be used to determine the champion.

Hill, a 6-8, 220 lb. forward, participated in the Sacramento Kings 2011 training camp, appearing in one preseason game where he grabbed one rebound in one minute off the bench on December 17 at Golden State. Hill, out of Stanford University, appeared in 5 games with the Texas Legends this season, averaging 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds, before being acquired by the Red Claws in a trade. Since joining the Red Claws, he has been a steadying force, averaging 12.9 points and 7.2 rpg in 19 games.
