
D-Fenders Top Toros For Eighth Straight Win

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders surpassed the longest win streak in franchise history for the second time this season after they topped the Austin Toros 102-98 for their eighth consecutive victory on Sunday night. The D-Fenders (25-10) bested seven-game win streak mark that occurred earlier this season in games played from Dec. 29, 2011 to Jan. 1, 2012.
In a two-point game with 8.1 seconds remaining, Courtney Fortson drove to the basket and scooped in a layup for what would be the final points scored on the evening to help bookend the game for Los Angeles in which they outscored Austin (21-12) by a combined 18 points in the first and fourth quarters.
Gerald Green, who led the D-Fenders in scoring for the eighth time this season, dropped in a game-high 30 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists, Devin Ebanks totaled 15 points, five rebounds and two steals, and Fortson tallied 14 points, four rebounds and five assists off the bench in the victory.
Additionally, Malcolm Thomas dropped in his third-straight double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Orien Greene registered 12 points, five rebounds and five assists for the D-Fenders.
Austin saw all five starters in double-figures, led by Justin Dentmon's 22 points (12-13 FT) and five assists, and Leo Lyons posted a 19-point, 16-rebound double-double. In addition, Carldell Johnson dropped in 18 points to go with five assists off the bench, and Da'Sean Butler, Jamarr Sanders as well as Julian Sensley each scored 10 points to round out the Toros in double-figures.
In a game that featured eight lead changes and seven ties, Los Angeles outscored Austin by 20 points in the paint as well as 20 points in second chance opportunities.
The D-Fenders next plays the Idaho Stampede at home on Wednesday, February 22nd before taking a break for the 2012 NBA Development League All-Star game.
