Red Claws Acquire Forward Justin Hawkins

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, today announced that they have acquired veteran forward Justin Hawkins. Hawkins is expected to arrive in Maine today and will be in the lineup Thursday when the Red Claws host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in Game 1 of the NBA Development League Quarterfinals. Hawkins replaces Micah Downs who was waived by the team.
Hawkins, a 6-7, 210 lb. forward out of New Mexico State, spent one season in the NBA Development League with the Bakersfield Jam, Iowa Energy and Springfield Armor before taking his career overseas. Hawkins, 27, played for teams in France, Belarus and Finland over four seasons, joining the Red Claws from Boulazac Basket Dordogne (France-ProA, starting five).
The Red Claws will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the first round of the NBA Development League Playoffs this Thursday at the Portland Expo building at 7 PM in the first game of the best-of-three quarterfinals series.
