Red Bull New York News Release
SECAUCUS, NJ (May 10, 2010) - The New York Red Bulls will host fundraising efforts to help support former Red Bulls player Joe Vide's battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the club's match against Seattle Sounders FC on May 15 at Red Bull Arena at 7:30 PM (TV: MSG; Radio: WADO 1280 AM).
Vide, who appeared in 23 games with the club from 2006-2007, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The Red Bulls have organized multiple efforts in which fans will be able to help ease Vide's financial burden due to the cost of treatment. At the match on May 15, the Red Bulls will auction off a signed, game-worn jersey of captain Juan Pablo Angel, and will raffle off signed, game-worn jerseys of the Red Bulls' entire Starting 11 from the match, with all proceeds going to Vide's foundation.
The raffles will take place at the top of Section 127, where there will also be an area for fans to write messages of support to Vide. Collection buckets will be passed throughout the stadium as another way for fans to make donations. Also, the team will pass out cards with Vide's former uniform number "14" on them to the fans as a show of support.
Donations can be made at anytime at the website www.thefriendsofjoevide.com.
