RED-AND-WHITE TRAVEL TO COLUMBUS TO FACE UNDEFEATED CREW: Chivas USA will look to recover from a 2-0 loss to Houston this past weekend as the Red-and-White travel to Ohio to face the undefeated Columbus Crew on Saturday, May 15. The match, which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. ET), will feature Columbus, who in five games has three wins and two ties, and Chivas USA, who own a 3-4-1 (W-L-T) record in 2010. While the Red-and-White own a 5-3-2 record all-time against the Crew, Chivas USA is only 1-2-2 on the road against Columbus. In 2009, each team earned a 2-1 win in their home stadium. CHIVAS USA RETURNS HOME TO FACE DEFENDING CHAMPION REAL SALT LAKE ON MAY 22: After the road match in Columbus, Chivas USA returns to The Home Depot Center to face Real Salt Lake on Saturday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. PT. RSL, who won MLS Cup in 2009 over the LA Galaxy, are facing Chivas USA for the first time this season in a match between the 2005 expansion clubs. Salt Lake currently has a 3-3-1 record, and is coming off a 3-0 home victory over the Philadelphia Union. A special edition Upper Deck player card pack will be presented to the first 5000 fans through the gates, and a Family Pack, starting at just $14 per person, is also available. U.S. SOCCER TO ANNOUNCE PRELIMINARY 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP ROSTER TUESDAY: U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley will name the preliminary 30-man roster for the 2010 FIFA World Cup tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT live on ESPNEWS, including the list of players who will be attending the Pre-World Cup training camp beginning May 15 in Princeton, N.J. The final 23-player FIFA World Cup roster is due to FIFA by June 1. Chivas USA players, including Jonathan Bornstein and Sacha Kljestan may be on the list, and the players will be available to the media at the conclusion of tomorrow's 10:00 a.m. PT practice on Field 6 at The Home Depot Center.
âMARCH TO THE MATCH' WITH BAND OF THE GAME AND FANS STARTS AT 6:30 ON SATURDAY, MAY 22: A new tradition has come to The Home Depot Center in 2010, with Chivas USA fans, the Union Ultras supporters group, and the Band of the Game (from San Pedro High School), all gathering for the âMarch to the Match.' With everyone making noise and getting ready for the match, all fans are encouraged to join the group when it leaves from Lot 11 at 6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 22, continuing this new event which will occur prior to every home match the Red-and-White play. âCHIVAS AT THE PARK L.A.' CONTINUES SATURDAY, MAY 15 AT ROSECRANS: Chivas USA has kicked off the popular âChivas at the Park L.A.' program, and will continue the series of soccer clinics taking place in various parks throughout Los Angeles with a session on Saturday, May 15 at Rosecrans Recreation Center at 840 W. 149th St. in Gardena. The clinics, which offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family, cost just $5 and include 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. CHIVAS USA YOUTH TEAMS SPLIT AGAINST PATEADORES: The Chivas USA Youth Teams continue play in the Development Academy, and are currently in the league's final month of the 2009-2010 season. This past weekend, the Chivas USA U-18's earned a 2-1 win over Pateadores at Orange Coast College behind goals from Daniel Castro and Angel Cholico. The U-18's are currently in second place of the SoCal Division of the Development Academy's West Conference with an 8-6-0 record. The U-16's, after falling 3-1 to Pateadores, are in third place with a 6-6-2 record. AYSO REFEREE NIGHT TO TAKE PLACE ON MAY 22: Chivas USA has announced that the May 22 match against Real Salt Lake will also be AYSO Referee Night at The Home Depot Center. A special ticket package, starting at just $20, includes a three hour pregame referee training clinic, a ticket to the match, a Chivas USA/AYSO Referee coin, a Chivas USA hat, and a postgame meeting with the match referees. CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA ENDS SEASON IN PLAYOFFS AGAINST MORELIA: Chivas de Guadalajara fell to Morelia by a 1-0 score in the second leg of their playoff series, knocking the Rojiblancos out of the postseason. Chivas started the Bicentenario 2010 campaign with eight straight wins, but the team struggled down the stretch after losing several players to Mexico's World Cup squad, which started preparations in April.
