
Red Bulls Suffer 2-0 Defeat to Charlotte FC

The New York Red Bulls (6-4-5, 23 pts.) suffered a 2-0 defeat to Charlotte FC (6-8-1, 19pts.) at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Charlotte scored the opening goal in first half stoppage time, when midfielder Ben Bender received the ball and pushed into space and had a shot from outside the box, which found the back of the net after a deflection off a New York defender.
Charlotte doubled their lead in second half stoppage time after midfielder Sergio Ruiz found the ball in New York's box, slotted a pass across to the incoming Derrick Jones, who placed the ball in the back of the net.
Midfielder Frankie Amaya surpassed 5,000 MLS minutes in his career.
Following Saturday's match, New York will return to Red Bull Arena for a two-match homestand, beginning with an MLS regular season match against Toronto FC on Saturday, June 18.
