Red Bulls Defeat Austin FC, 4-3, at Q2 Stadium

- The New York Red Bulls (10-6-6, 36 pts.) defeated Austin FC (12-5-5, 41 pts.) 4-3 on Sunday, July 24, at Q2 Stadium.

- New York opened the scoring in the 14th minute, as Serge Ngoma received a pass from John Tolkin, moved through open space, and ripped a shot from outside the box that went off the hands of Andrew Tarbell and into the back of the net.

- The visitors doubled their advantage in the 26th minute. Patryk Klimala maneuvered in following an Austin turnover and ripped a shot that was saved by Tarbell. Dru Yearwood cut off the Austin clearance, collected the ball, and sent a shot into the back of the net.

- Austin cut the deficit in half in the 45th minute. New York was able to initially clear the ball following a corner kick, but the ball fell to Sebastián Driussi, who immediately shot it through traffic.

- The Red Bulls struck again in the 51st minute, as Yearwood played a pass to Cameron Harper, who collected the ball, cut back, and ripped a shot into the back of the net.

- New York added another in the 65th minute, as Caden Clark headed the ball down to Harper, who flicked it to Tom Barlow, who sent in a shot after just entering the box.

- Austin scored in the 69th minute as Sebastián Driussi collected a pass from Alex Ring, wove through New York defenders, and ripped a shot from distance.

- The home side found the back of the net again in the 81st minute as Driussi sent in a pass that was acrobatically played by Washington Corozo to Ethan Finlay, who scored his fifth of the season.

- The victory marked the 10th of the season for New York, making 2022 the 12th season since 2010 in which the Red Bulls will have 10-plus wins.

- New York has scored three or more goals in eight matches this season across all competitions, including five in MLS play. The club reached that mark once during the 2021 season.

- The Red Bulls have scored three or more goals in three road MLS road matches this season and have reached that mark in four matches overall across all competitions.

- Tolkin's assist was his second this season and fourth of his MLS career.

- Yearwood's goal was his first of the season and the second of his MLS career.

- The goal for Harper was his second of both the current season and his MLS career.

- Yearwood's assist was his first in MLS play this season and second across all competitions. It also marked the third of his MLS career.

- Barlow's goal was his third of the season and fourth across all competitions. It also marked the 10th of his MLS career.

- The assist for Harper was his second in MLS play and fourth across all competitions this season.

- Harper moved into a tie with Klimala and Frankie Amaya for third on the team in assists across all competitions.

- Clark's assist was his second of the season and seventh of his MLS career.

- Daniel Edelman made his first MLS start in the match, playing the full 90 minutes.

- Tom Edwards will be suspended for the team's next MLS match due to yellow card accumulation.
