Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored three runs in the top of the sixth en route to a 3-1 victory over Indianapolis Saturday night at Victory Field.
The Red Barons, who end a five-game skid, improve to 30-25 on the season. The Indians, who see their six-game winning streak come to an end, fall to 32-22 overall.
Scranton/W-B moves to within 2.5 games of Rochester in the International League's North Division, while the Tribe remains 6.5 games ahead of Toledo in the IL West.
Scranton/W-B CF Chris Roberson opened the sixth with a infield single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and came plateward on C Carlos Ruiz's seventh home run of the season -- a two-run shot to left field.
RF Josh Kroeger then walked, advanced to third on 3B Brennan King's double to right center and scored on 1B Dusty Wathan's base knock to center.
Indianapolis scored its lone run in the first. CF Rajai Davis walked on four straight pitches, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and came plateward on 3B Yurendell de Caster's RBI groundout.
Roberson, King and Wathan registered two hits apiece for the visitors. No individual had more-than-one base knock for the home team.
Scranton/W-B LHP Brian Mazone (6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO) picked up the win, improving to 3-1. RHP Travis Minix (1.1 IP, 1 BB, 1 SO) was credited with a hold, while RHP Ryan Cameron (1.0 IP, 1 SO) notched his fifth save of the season.
Indianapolis LHP Sean Burnett (5.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) was pinned with the loss, falling to 4-4. RHP Marty McLeary (1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 SO) and LHP Mike Johnston (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 SO) helped lower the bullpen's season ERA, but wound up with no-decisions.
Indians RF Raul Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to eight games by going 1-for-4 on the night.
The two teams wrap up the four-game series Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Indianapolis LHP Tom Gorzelanny is scheduled to face Scranton/W-B RHP Seung-Hak Lee.
