CHIVAS USA HEADS TO GUADALAJARA ON THURSDAY FOR PRESEASON TRAINING: Chivas USA will depart for Guadalajara, Mexico on Thursday morning for a week long training stint which will include a pair of games against Liga de Ascenso (Mexican second division) opponents. The Red-and-White will first visit Irapuato for a game on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Sergio León Chávez stadium in Irapuato, and then will face Club Universidad de Guadalajara on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Chivas de Guadalajara training facilities. MAICON SANTOS TO MISS ABOUT SIX WEEKS WITH LEFT KNEE INJURY: Chivas USA forward Maicon Santos has suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, and will miss roughly six weeks. The Brazilian injured his knee in a collision at the end of last Thursday's scrimmage against Loyola Marymount University. After evaluation over the weekend, it was determined that Santos will likely be out of action for about six weeks as he recovers from the injury.
CHIVAGIRLS TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR THE 2010 SQUAD THIS SATURDAY: Chivas USA will hold auditions this Saturday, Feb. 13 for the ChivaGirls, Major League Soccer's top dance squad, at 10:00 a.m. PT at the Velodrome at The Home Depot Center. Media interested in covering the ChivaGirls auditions should contact Chivas USA Communications (contact info above). With a combination of performance, community involvement, and passion for Chivas USA, the ChivaGirls have set the standard for other professional dance teams in MLS. GOALKEEPER LANCE PARKER RELEASED; KISSI AND MCMANUS LEAVE CAMP: Chivas USA also announced Wednesday that goalkeeper Lance Parker has been released. The goalkeeper made four appearances (three starts) in MLS play in 2009, as well as playing one U.S. Open Cup game and one SuperLiga match during the season. Parker joined the Red-and-White prior to the 2008 season, making one appearance in a SuperLiga match during his first season on the team. "Lance is a hard-working goalkeeper with a lot of potential," said Chivas USA Vice President of Soccer Operations Stephen Hamilton. "He helped us both on and off the field, and we wish him the best." Other players that have left Chivas USA's preseason camp this week include trialists Isaac Kissi and Matt McManus.
