Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, ID (January 23, 2003) â The Idaho Stampede broke or tied six different team and individual records in last night's 152-150 overtime loss to the Rockford Lightning. The team records that were broken or tied were: Most Points Scored, Most Points Allowed, Field Goals Made and Assists. The individual records that were broken or tied were: Points In a Game and Field Goals Made.
The 302 points scored were the most combined points ever scored in the Idaho Center, and most ever in a CBA game involving the Idaho Stampede. Idaho's 150 points were the most ever scored by the Stampede in a single game, eclipsing the old mark of 133, set on Christmas day in 1997 against the Sioux Falls Skyforce, a game that Idaho won 133-115.
Rockford's 152 points scored last night were the most ever given up by the Stampede, beating the old mark by 15 points. On December 17, 1999, the Sioux Falls Skyforce beat the Stampede 137-104.
Idaho made 54 field goals in last night's contest, tying a mark set in the Dec. 25 game against Sioux Falls. To get those field goals, the Stampede dished out 44 assists, breaking the team record of 43, set on March 20, 1999 against the Yakima Sun Kings.
Individually, guard Brian Green posted the highest scoring game ever by a Stampede player as he notched 46 points, breaking his own record of 41 points set earlier this season (Nov. 24) against the same Rockford Lightning team. Before this season, the Stampede's previous mark for individual scoring was set by Dennis Edwards, who racked up 40 points on February 15, 1999 against, coincidentally, the Rockford Lightning. To get his 46 points, Green made 18 field goals, tying the mark also set by Edwards against Quad City on February 6, 1999.
Not quite record setting performances, but worth mentioning, were double-double's by four different Stampede players. Rookie Byron Mouton scored a career-high 34 points and added 12 rebounds, while also passing out seven assists, three shy of earning him a triple-double. Guards Ruben Nembhard and Michael Johnson both scored in double figures, 13 and 24 points
respectively, and both eclipsed the double-digit mark in assists with 10 each. Adding to his record setting scoring night, Brian Green pulled down 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
The records look to be in jeopardy again on Friday night, as the same two teams will meet for the final time in the Idaho Center this season. Tip-off is set for 7:10 p.m. with doors to the arena opening at 6 p.m. Halftime entertainment will be performed by the Gentleman Jugglers, known worldwide as one of the best variety acts performing today. Their synchronized swimming routine and ballerina impersonation have audiences dissolving in fits of laughter, as they have opened for such acts as Reba McIntyre, David Copperfield, the Temptations and many NBA and WNBA teams. Also, on Saturday, the first 500 kids through the Idaho Center doors will receive a free "Dart Man" toy, sponsored by Micron Technology.
Catch all the live action with Scott Johnson on KFXD AM-630, beginning at 7 PM with the Stampede Report. Also, follow the game live via the internet at www.cbahoopsonline.com, through our Dakstats live web-casting.
