Windsor Express News Release

(WINDSOR, ON) A record setting start turned into a nailbiting, heated finish as the Windsor Express earned their seventh straight victory with a 131-120 win over the London Lightning on Friday night at the WFCU Centre.

Windsor opened the contest by scorching the Lightning with 46 first quarter points, taking a 24 point lead into the second frame.

DeAndre Thomas had 12 in the first quarter, followed up by Quinnel Brown's 11.

Thomas finished with 22 on the night, the third straight game he's reached the 20+ point plateau, while Brown had a monster double-double with 23 points and 20 rebounds.

Going into the break, Windsor controlled a 76-48 lead, the most points an Express team has scored in the first half of a game in franchise history.

It came in handy, as the Lightning came alive in the third quarter with 43 points of their own, bringing their deficit to within 13.

The game wavered back and forth throughout the final quarter, but Windsor kept London at bay to continue their win streak in their final home game before the Christmas break.

Windsor guard, Tony Bennett blasted his former team with a team high 34.

London's John Hart carried his club with 36 points of his own.

Things got heated with 0.5 seconds left, Windsor inbounded the ball to Kevin Loiselle, who let the ball bounce into the London end and dunked it after the buzzer had sounded.

That ignited some shouting from both benches in the handshake line and sets up for another tense match up between the two teams, which will take place at Budweiser Gardens on January 3rd.

Windsor is back in action on Sunday, December 7th as they travel to Mississauga and face the Power at 2:00pm.

The next home game is Saturday, December 27th, also against Mississauga at 7:00pm at the WFCU Centre.
