Boise Hawks News Release
In front of a record crowd at Memorial Stadium, the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils (Short Season A affiliate of the San Diego Padres) 6-2 courtesy of a four-run eighth inning.
4,898 fans attended the Fourth of July game, which is the most fans for a single game that have filed into Memorial Stadium since 2001.
After Tri-City took a 2-0 lead, Trevor Boone blasted his first professional home run over the right field wall making the score 2-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, Isaac Collins reached on a single then reached third base off of a throwing error by the pitcher. Michael Toglia then batted him in off a fielding error by the first baseman Jason Pineda.
After six innings without a score, the Hawks tallied four runs in the bottom of the eighth. With runners at second and third and two outs, Yorvis Torrealba bounced a ball towards the shortstop but a throwing error by Jordy Barley allowed both runners to score and give the Hawks a 4-2 lead. Toglia then blasted a two-run homer to right field for his third home run of the season and the first one at home, and lifted them to a 6-2 victory.
The Hawks will take on the Dust Devils again on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
