Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - The six-time world champion Arizona Rattlers have signed rookie wide receivers James Brania-Hopp and Deondre Douglas for the 2021 Indoor Football League season.

James Brania-Hopp (6', 200, Washburn University) will join the Rattlers for his rookie season in the IFL. The Montville, NJ native earned an invite to Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp in 2019, after a four-year career at Washburn. In 36 games, including 14 starts at Washburn, he recorded 123 receptions for 2,147 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per catch.

Brania-Hopp was a first-team all-MIAA pick as a senior, and an honorable mention selection as a junior. With 62 receptions for 1,144 yards during his senior year, he had 325 more than the next-closest wide receiver in the conference, and the third-highest single season total in program history. Brania-Hopp was named Washburn's Most Valuable Player his senior year, and Ichabod Offensive Player of the Year for both his junior and senior seasons.

Deondre Douglas (6'2", 215, Troy University) will also join the Rattlers for his rookie season in the IFL. The Huntsville, AL native earned an invite to Chicago Bears minicamp in 2019, after a four-year career at Troy University. Douglas was a key contributor to the Trojans during his college career, seeing action in 49 games and racking up 177 receptions for 2,012 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Douglas was named to the All-Sun Belt second team in 2016 and 2017, and the All-Sun Belt third team in 2018. During his sophomore year in 2016, Douglas put up a career-best 740 receiving yards on 60 receptions, leading the nation with the most consecutive receptions without a drop. During his senior season in 2018, Douglas was also credited with only one drop on 58 total targets, with 24-of-44 catches going for a first down.
