New Jersey Titans News Release
ASTON, Pa. - A last gasp effort connected for the Rebels as they salvaged a weekend split with the Titans, winning the game 3-2.
With some crisp passes in the final minute of the third period, the puck wound up getting thrown on net through traffic by Kristofers Bindulis and redirected by Chris Deprez past Titans goalie Jack Berry.
The Titans couldn't find an equalizing goal in the final 18.9 seconds.
It didn't take as long for scoring to start the game, unlike the night before. However, the Titans did get off to a slow start.
This time is was the Rebels who scored first as scramble in front of Jack Berry's crease led to a loose puck in the slot for Dean Balasmo who punched it in at the 3:45 mark of the opening period.
Undeterred though, the Titans with a late power play, were able to pull within one before the first intermission. Keegan Miller kept jabbing away at rebounds off the chest and pads of Aston goaltender Trevor Miccuci and found the net because of his efforts. It was Miller's ninth goal of the season.
Then, just over a minute later, the Titans found themselves down by two Frank Spellman threw one on net from the right circle. Berry mistimed the knuckleballed puck, just missing it.
Andrew Durham's fourth goal of the season tied the game after a crisp pass from Adam Hascic. Durham's wrist shot from the point.
The Titans are now 1-2-1 against the Rebels.
While there was bad news at the end, the good news for the Titans is they'll hold onto first place in the NAHL East Division as they'll head to Johnstown for a three-game weekend with the Tomahawks.
