Austin Bruins News Release
BISMARCK, ND - After allowing 51 shots in a 6-4 loss on Friday night, the Bruins rebounded with a strong defensive effort and a 3-2 win against the Bobcats at VFW Sports Center in Bismarck on Saturday.
Austin got the 1-0 lead when Jan Stefka scored just 2:50 into the first period, taking a pass from Austin Rueschhoff, and cashing his third goal of the season. Bismarck's Jared Pike answered with an odd goal at the 4:22 mark, as his shot deflected off Kris Carlson, off the end boards, and then back off Carlson and in behind him. The Bobcats then took the lead when Willie Brown ripped a wrist shot past Carlson at 11:21. Rueschhoff got a powerplay goal late to tie it, set up by Justin Misiak and Paul O'Connor.
The second period was scoreless, but included five Bobcats powerplays, including a 5 on 3 and a double minor for high sticking. The Austin penalty kill held strong, killing all five successfully.
Gilbert Gabor netted the eventual game winner at 3:20 of the 3rd, set up by Dawson DiPietro. It was Gabor's 8th goal of the season. Carlson made 33 saves for his 9th win. The Bruins and Bobcats play two more times next weekend at Riverside Arena - 7:05 starts on Friday and Saturday night.
