Rebels & Wheat Kings Go the Distance

RED DEER A.B. - The Red Deer Rebels steal one 2-1 over the Wheat Kings in extra time Saturday night.
Both clubs traded powerplay opportunities and scoring chances but it remained scoreless after 20 minutes. Credit to goaltenders Nick Jones & Rhett Stoesser making a couple goal saving stops to keep it 0-0. Shots on goal 10-10.
The Wheat Kings got on the board in period two. It was Kayden Sadhra-Kang with a pass to Quinn Mantei who placed a shot from the left side point which was stopped by Rhett Stoesser but the rebound was collected by Nolan Ritchie on an awkward angle forcing Ritchie to score between his legs beating the Rebels goaltender to make it 1-0 Wheat Kings. Kayden Sadhra-Kang's assist was his first point as a member of the Wheat Kings.
The Wheat Kings came into the third period with a record of 14-1-1 when they have a lead after 40 minutes. They held on to the 1-0 lead until very late in the 3rd when Anthony Wilson took an offensive zone penalty allowing the Rebels to tie the game up with a Jayden Grubbe tip goal in the slot to force overtime. In overtime a Rebels shot from the point would go off the glove of Nate Danielson which would be collected by Kalen Lind in the slot, ind would beat Nick Jones to give the Rebels a 2-1 overtime victory.
