NEWS & NOTES:

Last Game: The Wheat Kings & Red Deer Rebels went the distance Saturday night. After Nolan Ritchie's 2nd period "between the legs" goal, it appeared the Wheat Kings would escape with the 1-0 win but when the Rebels had a 6th powerplay attempt late in regulation, Jayden Grubbe tied it up to force overtime. In OT Kalen Lind scored the winning goal for the Red Deer Rebels. Nick Jones was solid between the pipes for the Wheat Kings stopping 28 of 30 shots earning 2nd star honours. Kayden Sadhra-Kang picked up his first point as a member of the Wheat Kings assisting on the lone Nolan Ritchie goal.

Jan 22nd VS Edmonton : The Wheat Kings and Edmonton Oil Kings prepare for their second of four meetings this season. The last time these two clubs met was in Edmonton where the Oil Kings shocked the Wheat Kings defeating them 5-3. Rookie Gavin Hodnett scored his first 3 goals of his Western Hockey League career picking up the hatrick. It was a game where the Wheat Kings had their chances but couldn't capitalize on their oppurtunities. Nolan Ritchie & Nate Danielson each had two points in the game. It is unclear what type of roster the Wheat Kings will have at their disposal with a flu bug following them around on the road trip.

Who's Hot: Brett Hyland currently has 14 goals scored in his last 14 games. Forward Nate Danielson has been stellar as of late scoring 39 points in his last 25 games. Nolan Ritchie has 32 points in his last 22 games. Calder Anderson has 18 points in his last 16 games.

NOTABLE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER STATS

Nate Danielson: Tied for 3rd in the League Lead with (3) Shorthanded Goals
