Real Salt Lake Gameday Preview: Friday, July 24 v. FC Dallas

July 23, 2009 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, Utah (Thursday, July 23, 2009) - Real Salt Lake (5-7-5, 20 pts.) will return home to continue the club's Pioneer Day holiday tradition tomorrow, Friday, July 24, with an important Western Conference showdown against FC Dallas (4-8-5, 17 pts.) and a post-game fireworks extravaganza, with both being presented by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah. Kickoff for the team's first Pioneer Day match at Rio Tinto Stadium is set for 8:00 p.m. MT in Sandy, while broadcast coverage on KUTV 2.2. Digital / Comcast 111 will begin with the America First Credit Union Pre-match Report at 7:30 p.m. MT. Fans can also follow the action live via RSL's official radio partners: KALL 700 Sports (America First Credit Union Pre-Match Report begins at 7:00 p.m.) and "Ke Buena" 1600-AM.

Tickets for tomorrow's contest are still available and can be purchased via the internet at www.RioTintoStadium.com or in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office or the RSL Team Store, both of which will open at 10:00 a.m. MT on Friday morning.

Friday night's match will start this season's brief two-game series between RSL and the "Hoops," which will conclude on Sept. 26, at Pizza Hut Park. Real Salt Lake is 4-9-1 all-time against FC Dallas, but has collected all four of those wins at home en route to collecting a 4-3-1 mark in Utah, including the second-ever match contested at Rio Tinto Stadium, a 3-1 RSL triumph last Oct. 18. While Real Salt Lake coaches Jason Kreis and Jeff Cassar are plenty familiar with the FC Dallas organization, having spent the bulk of their lengthy MLS careers with the Texas side, the "Hoops" contingent has plenty of intimate knowledge of the Claret-and-Cobalt as well, as its squad includes former RSL members FW Jeff Cunningham, DF Daniel Torres, DF Kyle Davies, recently-acquired MF Atiba Harris, and assistant coach John Ellinger.

Mangia's RSLexpress Service to Deliver Dollar Dogs during Friday's Contest

Have you ever stood in line at the concession stand during a game, only to hear the Rio Tinto Stadium faithful going wild for a Real Salt Lake goal? Starting tomorrow night that scenario never has to happen again, as Real Salt Lake is proud to announce the expansion of RSLexpress, powered by Mangia, the first in-seat food delivery service available for the entire stadium. To help spread the word of its increased stadium-wide coverage, RSLexpress will be offering $1 hot dogs and free delivery during Friday's match against FC Dallas to every fan that signs up for the service prior to the contest, with each new order also entering fans into a drawing to win two tickets to the 2009 MLS All-Star Game! To take advantage of this fan-friendliest of offers, sign up for your free account by going online to www.rslexpress.com, or register in person on the West concourse at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday.

Details Regarding Friday's Post-game Fireworks Extravaganza, Presented by BCBS of Utah

Friday's post-game fireworks extravaganza, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, will begin approximately 10 minutes after the end of Friday's match. Please note that, in accordance with local safety guidelines regarding the display's firing zone, Rio Tinto Stadium officials will close the north side of the Stadium Way ring road beginning in the 75th minute of the match and will re-open the road 10 minutes following the fireworks show.

Due to this closure affecting the northwest Spanish staircase entrance, fans are encouraged to remain in the stadium briefly following the fireworks display. Vehicles parked in the Stadium's North lots including 9000 South and Monroe Way will not be able to access the pedestrian bridge from the 75th minute until the 10-minute post-display window has expired. All remaining entrances/exits will not be impacted by this temporary road closure.
