Head-to-Head: New Mexico United has the advantage over Real Monarchs with an all-time record of 5-1-0 in 6 matches played, including a 4-1-0 record at Zions Bank Stadium.

The previous match between the sides was on September 30, 2020 at Zions Bank Stadium, a 1-0 loss for the home side. New Mexico United scored the only goal of the match in the 57th minute on a header from Joris Ahlinvi.

Connections: New Mexico United defender Kalen Ryden spent two seasons with Real Monarchs from 2018-2019, recording nine goals and three assists in 67 appearances. His last goal for the Monarchs was the equalizer in the 48th minute of the Western Conference Semifinals, helping the club on its way to the USL Championship Title in 2019.

In addition, New Mexico forward Devon Sandoval was selected 29th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft and recorded 11 goals and five assists in 87 appearances from 2013-2016. Sandoval also made six appearances for Real Monarchs between 2015-2016, where he added a goal and an assist.
