SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, April 7, 2015) - Real Monarchs opens its inaugural season home slate Wednesday, welcoming fellow USL expansion side, Portland Timbers 2 to Rio Tinto Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff. Wednesday's match will be broadcast live on RealMonarchs.com, Real Monarchs YouTube page, and ESPN700 AM Radio.
Real Monarchs still have plenty of seats open for its season opener including a few tickets left for its 2FOR20 deal. Real Monarchs (0-1-1, 1 point, 10th West) enters 2015 with 11 other USL expansion teams, most of which are also MLS affiliates. Monarchs first head coach Freddy Juarez has assembled a team of 17 players signed to Real Monarchs contracts, with the possibility of Real Salt Lake loanees that can join the Monarchs on a per-game basis to bolster his squad.

Wednesday's match is the second consecutive match between the clubs, with the Timbers beating Monarchs 3-1 in their last match back on Sunday, March 29th. Timbers won decisively 2 weeks ago with Kharlton Belmar (POR) scoring a brace (30' header, 54' shot).
Real Monarchs scored their first goal in club history when FW Coco Navarro stripped a Timbers defender and slotted it past the keeper in the 59th min.
FW Emery Welshman returns from International Duty
Guyanese International Emery Welshman returns from International Duty this week having missed Real Monarchs' first 2 matches. Welshman started the final international friendly for the Golden Jaguars in their 2-0 win over Grenada, which followed a 2-0 win over St. Lucia earlier in the week.
Garrett Losee to Miss Home Opener due to Red Card Suspension
Utah native and Monarchs MF Garrett Losee will be suspended from Wednesday's home opener, due to the pair of yellow cards received on March 29 at Portland. Losee is expected to be eligible for selection on Saturday the 11th at 4:30 p.m. MT, when Monarchs host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Rio Tinto Stadium. Provo-born Losee was one of over 300 participants in an open tryout Real Monarchs held in early March, and was awarded a contract with the team during on March 6, 2015.
