
Real Monarchs Fall to New Mexico United

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs dropped all three points in a 2-0 loss against New Mexico United at Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Forward Amando Moreno scored two goals in the New Mexico United victory.
The first half was a physical forty-five minutes that resulted in chances for both sides. In the 16th minute, Monarchs goalkeeper David Ochoa was forced into a diving save to keep the score level. New Mexico United would eventually get on the board in the 40th minute with a Moreno shot from close range. The Monarchs responded with its best chance of the half in the 45th minute, but defender James Moberg's shot missed by inches to the right.
Continuing their momentum from the first half, forward Chris Wehan sent a long through ball towards Moreno who then rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the net to double the lead in the 65th minute and secure the 2-0 victory for New Mexico United.
UP NEXT: Real Monarchs host Portland Timbers 2 at Zions Bank Stadium on Wednesday, September 16 at 8:00 p.m.
