Real Monarchs Dominate Switchbacks FC 4-1

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs dominated its regional rivals Switchbacks FC 4-1 at Zions Bank Stadium on Wednesday night in front of 239 fans at Zions Bank Stadium.

Switchbacks FC midfielder Aidan Daniels scored early, but goals from forward Julian Vázquez, defender Noah Powder and midfielders Sam Brown and Bode Davis helped the Monarchs run away with a crucial three points.

Switchbacks FC opened the scoring early with a right-footed goal from Daniels in the 8th minute to take the lead. The Monarchs would respond with two goals following solid possession in the midfield the rest of the half. In the 18th minute, midfielder Dayonn Harris sent a long ball towards Vazquez, who fired a left-footed shot past the keeper and into the net for the equalizer. Following a corner kick in the 26th minute from Powder, Brown buried a header into the left side of the net to take the 2-1 lead for the Monarchs into the break.

The Monarchs kept the momentum in the second half and found its third goal in the 69th minute when midfielder Jack Blake found Davis for the right-footed goal to extend the lead to 3-1. In the 76th minute, Powder scored on a free-kick to put the game away and give the Monarchs the 4-1 victory.

COS: Aidan Daniels (Adrian Diz Pe), 8th minute: Following a long pass from defender Adrian Diz Pe, forward Aidan Daniels tucked the ball into the net from the left side of the box with a right-footed shot.

SLC: Julian Vázquez (Dayonn Harris), 18th minute: Assisted by Harris, forward Julian Vázquez fired a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net after rounding the goalkeeper.

SLC: Sam Brown (Noah Powder), 26th minute: Following a corner kick cross by Powder, Brown buried a header into the bottom left corner.

SLC: Bode Davis (Jack Blake), 69th minute: On the counter attack, Blake laid it off to Davis for the right-footed shot under the keeper and into the net.

SLC: Noah Powder, 76th minute: Powder fired a left-footed free-kick into the bottom left corner of the net.

NOTES:

Sam Brown and Bode Davis each tallied their first professional goals.

Julian Vázquez and Noah Powder opened their 2020 accounts for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs now own a positive 3 goal differential in all-time regular season play over Switchbacks FC.
