Quote of the Week

F Frank DiChiara on Head Coach Kirk MacDonald and how DiChiara signed with Reading:

"Coach MacDonald is very intense and knows what he wants out there. He holds guys accountable. I think I definitely bring something to the table that the team didn't have last season. I like throwing my body around and getting in the corners."

Big 3 Storylines

3) Josh MacDonald's 150 and 50

Josh MacDonald registered a three-point game (1g, 2a) Sunday vs. Wheeling, surpassing the 50-goal plateau in his 152nd career game. MacDonald skated in his 150th career game vs. Newfoundland Oct 24.

He has scored 51 goals and 107 points in four ECHL seasons. His single-season high for goals is 23, accomplished in 2016-17 with Rapid City and Utah.

MacDonald is tied for the Royals lead with three goals and ranks fourth on the squad with five points.

Among other milestones, Kirk MacDonald surpassed 100 career points as a Head Coach with a win Sunday vs. the Nailers. He has helped Reading earn 102 points in two seasons at the helm with a record of 45-25-12.

2) Beef gets going

Netminder Angus Redmond (nicknamed "Beef") made his first start of the season vs. Wheeling Saturday and guided Reading to one point (31 saves, 2 GA) in a shootout loss. He was reassigned to Reading by the Anaheim Ducks in October. Following a season at Michigan Tech in 2016-17, Redmond signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Ducks in 2017.

1) Coincidence at the start

All of Reading's wins have been come-from-behind efforts. In contrast, Reading is 0-1-1-1 when scoring the first goal. In games the Royals have fallen behind in regulation, the team is 3-1-0-2.

The Royals have held a lead in every game this season, earning points in six of their first seven.
