Phoenix, Ariz. - The Indoor Football League (IFL) has just announced that Arizona Rattlers Running Back, Darrell Monroe, has been named the IFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Monroe joined the team last year and has led all running backs in the league in rushing in two straight seasons. He led the league this season in rushing touchdowns with 38 and was second in the league in rush yards with 773, despite playing in only ten regular season games. Monroe led the league in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game, which towers over the rest of the IFL (Iowa's Drew Powell is second with 11.8 points per game). Monroe also led the league in yards per rush (minimum 20 attempts) with 5.3 average.

"Darrell Monroe is a big physical back that is a hard worker and is still growing," said General Manager and Head Coach Kevin Guy. "He is a tough runner that causes defensive players to make business decisions when tackling him. One of the things I really like about him is he is always falling forward."

The Caruthersville, Missouri native attended Arizona Western where he earned the ACCAC Offensive Player of the Year in both seasons he played for the Matadors. Overall, he ran for 1,673 yards and 18 touchdowns.
