October 5, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi Rayz Training Camp will open up Monday morning with a 9:00am practice at the American Bank Center. 25 players have been invited to Corpus Christi to compete for 19 spots on the Rayz 2007-2008 roster. They will take the ice in their first practice as a team on Monday morning at 9:00am. Led by eight returning players, and 17 newcomers to the Coastal Bend, the Rayz are set to take the ice for the first time in six months in preparation for the tenth anniversary season of Corpus Christi Rayz hockey.

After a long off-season of recruiting, Ken McRae has brought to training camp a mixture of youth and experience. His recruiting efforts will finally take shape in a two-week stretch leading up to opening night on October 19th. Anxious to make the most of his short time, McRae plans to find the most he can about his team immediately. The first two days of camp will feature two practices each day. The Rayz will then have a morning practice on Wednesday, before the team travels to Laredo to face the rival Bucks on Wednesday night in their first of three exhibition games.

The Rayz will resume practice on Thursday and continue on Friday, before preparing for their lone home exhibition game on Saturday evening. The Rayz have once again joined with the Corpus Christi Caller-Times as part of the Best-of-the-Best Showcase. The game will occur at 7:05pm at the American Bank Center and will be free of charge, courtesy of the Caller-Times. The October 13th game will pit the Rayz against their division rival Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in a preview of the opening weekend match-up between the Rayz and Bees. Fans will need a ticket to attend the game, however tickets can be obtained absolutely free of charge at the American Bank Center beginning, Monday, October 8th. For more information on the Rayz Best-of-the-Best exhibition game, please call the Rayz at (361) 814-PUCK.

The Rayz will round out the first week of training camp with a on or off-ice workout scheduled for Sunday. The Rayz will wrap up their exhibition schedule on Monday night with a trip to Rio Grande Valley to play the Bees in their final game before the regular season. Practices on Tuesday and Wednesday will conclude the training camp and the Rayz, along with all teams, will have to submit their regular season roster to the CHL on Thursday in time for the opening weekend of the 2007-2008 season.

With the exception of the Caller-Times Best-of-the-Best Exhibition Game on October 13th, all training camp practices and scrimmages will be closed to the public and open to media only. For any additional information on training camp, please call the Rayz at (361) 814-PUCK.

Tickets start at just $12 and will be available for purchase at any Ticketmaster location, or at the American Bank Center Box Office. Group tickets for all games are also available for a discounted price through the Rayz office. For more information, please call the Rayz at (361) 814-PUCK.
