Rattlers to Hold "Sidewinders" Dance Team Tryouts

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers dance team, the "Sidewinders," will hold preliminary auditions for its 2007 squad on Saturday, October 7, at US Airways Center.
The "Sidewinders" perform during the Rattler's home games. Members of the squad also make personal and charity appearances throughout the Phoenix area.
Preliminary auditions will be closed to the public. Registration, which is open only to female dancers, 18-years-old or older, begins at 8 a.m. with the audition starting promptly at 9 a.m. There will be a $15 registration fee for the preliminary audition. A group of judges will select candidates that will advance to the final audition on October 14, 2006.
In preparations for the preliminary audition, there will be a series of prep classes held at US Airways Center on September 5, 13 and 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and on September 30, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Each candidate must attend at least one prep class to participate in the preliminary audition. A $10 registration fee will be required per class, but if a dancer attends at least two prep classes the audition fees will be waived.
Dancers should expect contemporary hip-hop/technical choreography at the preliminary audition and will learn and perform a routine the day of the event. Body conscious dance clothing is suggested, and a headshot and resume (stapled together) is required. Headshots will not be returned. For more information please call (602) 514-8300.
