Krager hits the big screen
AUSTIN-Austin Wranglers fullback/linebacker Dane Krager joins a cast of approximately 50 Arena Football League players that appeared in the Disney/NFL film "Invincible" that opens nationwide Friday, August 25. The movie, which is based on the NFL career of Vince Papale of the Philadelphia Eagles (1976-78), stars Mark Wahlberg (as Papale) and Greg Kinnear (as Dick Vermeil).
In the movie, Krager plays the role of former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Lee Roy Jordan. He appeared in two stunts that were filmed at Texas Stadium in the Fall of 2005. "Working on movies is something that I enjoy doing right now in my life because I'm young and having fun with it," says Krager. "Invincible" marks Krager's second football film, as he was Bill Romanowski's body-double in "The Longest Yard" that was released in 2005.
"Invincible" tells the story of Papale who was a 30-year-old bartender and part-time teacher who never played college football. Papale attended an open tryout held by the Eagles and through an amazing set of circumstances, earned a spot as the special teams ace. He went on to play three seasons for Philadelphia.
