Rattlers Round Out Coaching Staff

September 8, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Arizona Rattlers News Release

Phoenix, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers have completed their coaching staff, hiring Derrick Chachere as their Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coach, and Bob O'Connor as the Wide Receivers Coach. O'Connor is the lone holdover from last year's staff. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Chachere spent the previous two seasons in New York, holding the same positions under Shell with the Dragons. A seven-year AFL veteran, Chachere is the all-time rushing leader in San Jose SaberCats history, gaining 442 yards in his six seasons with the franchise. Chachere played under Shell from 1995 to 1998 in San Jose. He finished his career with the Buffalo Destroyers, ending with over 750 all-purpose yards for his career.

O'Connor returns to Arizona for his fifth season, and is the only coach returning from last year's staff. During his previous four years with the Rattlers, O'Connor served as the Special Teams Coach as well as Receivers Coach.

"I think the addition of Derrick and Bob gives us a very solid staff,' said General Manager Gene Nudo. "We already had Lary (Kuharich) who's been a winner in this league. Now we add a guy who played for Todd (Shell) and had a lot of success, and also Bob, who's been here and knows this team."

The Arizona Rattlers will kick off their 14th season in January 2005. Season tickets and group tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 602-514-TDTD or by logging to www.AZRattlers.com.
