Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Edward Paredes pitched six solid innings and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels 3-1 Sunday afternoon in a game that took just two hours to play. Paredes allowed one unearned run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts to break a personal three game losing streak.

Cedar Rapids (17-18) took advantage of a pair of Rattler errors in the top of the second inning to score their first run. Angel Castillo reached on an error. He appeared to have been thrown out at second base on an attempted steal to end the inning, but a dropped throw for the second error kept Castillo on base. Julio Perez drove in Castillo with a ringing double off the wall in left. That unearned run was the only tally Paredes would allow.

Wisconsin hitters gave Paredes the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Alex Liddi was hit by a pitch with one out. Joe Dunigan followed with a triple to the right and Liddi chugged around the bases with the tying run. Dunigan scored the go ahead run when Kernel starting pitcher Trevor Reckling couldn't get the handle on a grounder back to the mound.

The Rattlers (14-18) tacked on a run in the seventh. Ron Garth doubled, went to third on a grounder, and scored on a ground out by Blake Ochoa.

Jake Wild retired all six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings. Then, Rob Harmon finished off the Kernels with a scoreless ninth for his first save.

The Rattlers welcome the Burlington Bees to Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium to start a four game series on Monday. Nathan Adcock (1-2, 3.48) is scheduled to start for Wisconsin. Alex Caldera (2-2, 2.31) is set to go for the Bees. Game time is 6:35pm.
