
Rattlers Breeze Past Blizzard; 51-21

Green Bay, Wisc. - The six-time world champion Arizona Rattlers (1-0) won their first game of the 2019 Indoor Football League season with a 51-21 win over the Green Bay Blizzard (0-1) at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This is the only time the Rattlers will face the Blizzard this season.
The Rattlers defense came out strong only allowing 21 points in the game and started the scoring off with a safety by DL Josh Gordon. The Rattlers secondary came away with three interceptions, one each by DB Allen Chapman, DB Devin Cockrell, and DB Phillip Henry. The defensive line also had a good night racking up four sacks in total, three by Gordon and one by LB Ricky Wyatt Jr.
Offensively, Arizona played both Quarterbacks, Jeff Ziemba got the start and Verlon Reed Jr. started the whole second half. Ziemba finished the day going 10-for-13, 97 yards and a touchdown. Reed completed four of five for 51 yards. Both Quarterbacks did throw an interception. Rushing for the Rattlers, RB Jabre Lolley, rushed for 88 yards off 14 attempts and scored three touchdowns.
The Rattlers took a nine point lead early after registering a safety by Gordon and then an eight yard touchdown run by Lolley.
The Blizzard scored their first points late in the first from a 14-yard pass from QB Lenorri Footman to Kezlow Smith.
The Rattlers extended their lead again to nine off of a four-yard pass from Ziemba to Lolley. Green Bay again closed the gap from a 35-yard pass from Footman to WR B.J. Hill.
The Rattlers finished off the scoring in the first half off a four-yard run by Ziemba.
The Third Quarter was all Rattlers scoring off of a 12-yard run by Reed and a 5-yard run by Lolley.
The Blizzard scored their final points of the game after a one-yard pass from Footman to Smith.
Arizona would score two more times in the fourth, a seven-yard run by Reed and a one-yard run by Lolley.
The Rattlers will return to Phoenix for their season home opener this Sunday, March 3rd to face the Cedar Rapids River Kings (0-1). Kickoff is slated for 3:05 p.m. The game can be seen live on your PHX CW Channel 61, streamed live on YouTube and CW will also stream the game.
