Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - The six-time world champion Arizona Rattlers obliterated the Bay Area Panthers at the SAP Center on Saturday night by the score of 83-21.

It was the second straight meeting between the two western conference foes and Arizona's second straight victory. This was the largest margin of victory for the Rattlers since entering the IFL. Arizona is now one win or one Las Vegas loss away from clinching a 2022 playoff berth.

Early and Often

Arizona's attack had a purpose from the start on both sides of the football, jumping out to an early 21-0 first-quarter lead. They followed up the first quarter with a 35-point second quarter eruption to boost their lead to 55-14 entering the half.

Powell's Perfection

2021 IFL MVP Drew Powell had himself quite the stat line in Arizona's 62-point victory. He threw a perfect 10-for-10 on pass attempts, tossing for 170 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had two rushes for 18 yards, but Arizona didn't really need his legs in this one. Backup quarterback Demry Croft connected on 5-of-7 pass attempts for 68 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.

Shannon The Cannon

Rattlers' running back Shannon Brooks led the ferocious offensive attack totaling 6 touchdowns on the evening, a career-high. Five of those touchdowns came on the ground, where he tallied 50 yards on 11 carries. Brooks also had two receptions for 42 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown reception from Demry Croft.

Haley's Impact

Wide receiver Braxton Haley was all over the field making plays. The second-year receiver had 3 receptions for 75 yards and two receiving touchdowns to go with his 5-yard score on the ground in his one rush attempt.

Defense Striking Back

Defensive back Dillion Winfrey had two interceptions on the night, which launches him into sole possession as the IFL leader in interceptions with six on the season.

Davontae Merriweather (10 tackles), Treyvon Williams (8 tackles) and Kyree Woods (6 tackles) all flew across the field, combining for 24 total tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 1 sack.
