Evansville Otters News Release

(O'Fallon, MO) - The Evansville Otters trailed the River City Rascals 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning when a flash thunderstorm rolled into the area, officially ending the game early.

Rascals starter Gary Moran allowed just two hits over five innings in the River City 4-0 rain shortened win.

The Rascals took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the second inning in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair.

Trailing 1-0, Evansville starter Angelo Morales got some defensive help behind him. Catcher Billy Killian threw out Doug Sanders trying to steal, and second baseman Pat Rose made a sliding catch of a line drive to keep the deficit at one.

Moran also did his best to keep it 1-0 as he struck out four batters and maintained the lead.

River City added another three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and when the teams switched sides for the top of the sixth, the storm came blustering through the area. With sideways rain, high gusting winds and puddles laden all across the field, the game was officially called shortly after seven o'clock.

With the win, the River City Rascals improve to 19-17 this season as the Evansville Otters are currently 14-21.

Evansville continues the nine game roadtrip tomorrow when the team concludes the three game series at the River City Rascals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CST from TR Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Missouri.

Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast of the game on WUEV 91.5 FM. The game can also be heard by going to http://www.evansvilleotters.com with Mike Radomski providing the play by play. The Evansville Otters pregame show will begin at 6:45 PM.
