Southern Illinois Miners News Release

MARION, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners are proud to announce that Mike Pinto, will be managing the West Division in the 2010 Frontier League All-Star Game at Rent One Park on Tuesday, July 14.

The all-star teams are managed by the manager of the team with the best record in each division one week prior to the All-Star Game. With Saturday night's 14-3 victory over the Florence Freedom, the Miners clinched this honor for their skipper.

"This is a tremendous honor for our organization," Pinto said "The credit certainly goes to the players and the unbelievable coaching staff I have."

This marks the second time in the last three seasons that Pinto will manage the West Division All-Stars. He did it in 2008 as well.

"We couldn't be happier for Mike that he will be managing the West squad in our ballpark," Miners Executive Vice President Erik Haag said. "I know that was one of his goals, and he and the team accomplished it. This will add extra incentive for Miners fans to come out to Rent One Park and root on the West squad."

In addition to managing his respective division's all-star team, each all-star manager gets to choose the final three players to fill out the all-star rosters after voting. Pinto will have his coaching staff with him during the All-Star Game as well as the opportunity to invite coaches and mangers from the division to fill out his all-star coaching staff.

The Miners currently have the best record in all of professional baseball and are off to the best start in league history with a 30-4 record. Entering Sunday evening's game, they are on an 18-game winning streak, the longest in league history.
