
Rascals Blank Bolts Behind Winkelman's Shutout

CRESTWOOD, Ill. -- The River City Rascals shutout the Windy City ThunderBolts 3-0 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Ozinga Field, taking the series victory in the process. Alex Winkelman threw seven shutout innings in the win.
The Rascals took advantage of a lead-off double from Cody Livesay to bring home a run in the first inning on an RBI groundout from Andrew Penner. James Morisano made it 2-0 with his RBI single in the second, and JD Hearn drove in the third run on a run-scoring single in the sixth.
Winkelman (2-2) allowed just three hits over his seven innings of work, walking three and striking out seven. Yeison Medina pitched a scoreless eighth, and Jackson Sigman picked up his seventh save after a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the game.
Bolts starter Christian Morris (1-1) allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings of work. He walked three and struck out two.
The Rascals (12-10) are off until Wednesday, when they host the Lake Erie Crushers for a doubleheader at CarShield Field in O'Fallon. First pitch for Game 1 of the twin-bill is set for 5:05 p.m. CDT. Joe Mortillaro is expected to take the mound for the Rascals in the opener.
