Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
With the game tied in the bottom of the tenth inning, Brian Wolfe reached on an error with the bases loaded, sending the Ogden Raptors to a 10-9 walk-off win over the Grand Junction Rockies Saturday night at Lindquist Field.
The error was the third of the game on the Rockies, with the first two helping Ogden comeback from four runs down in the bottom of the eighth. In that frame, the Raptors loaded the bases without a hit and Cody Bellinger tied the game with a grand slam. Later in the inning, Jacob Scavuzzo doubled home Justin Chigbogu to give the Raptors a 9-8 lead, but the Rockies tied the game in the ninth when Forrest Wall doubled home Wes Rogers, and the Rockies had a chance to regain the lead, but with Wall at third, Raptors pitcher Billy Flamion struck out Roberto Ramos and Dom Nunez to keep the game tied.
Grand Junction struck first when Nunez followed Henry Garcia's single in the second inning with his eighth home run of the year, but Ogden took the lead in the fourth inning.
Chigbogu started the inning by hitting his 18th home, which ties an Ogden franchise record, and they took the lead when with two out Mike Ahmed hit a 2-run single, but Forrest Wall got the lead back for the Rockies when he hit a 2-out, 2-run single of his own, giving the Rockies a 4-3 lead.
The Rockies added three runs in the sixth inning to make 7-3, but Ogden got one of those back in the bottom of the inning, and had the bases loaded, but Yoely Bello worked out of a bases loaded jam to keep it a 7-4 game.
Nunez doubled home Garcia in the seventh to get the Rockies lead back to four, but they couldn't hold the lead.
Wall finished with two hits and three RBI, while Nunez added three hits to go with his three RBI.
Scavuzzo had four hits to go along with a walk, while Chigbogu had three hits and a walk.
The loss is the Rockies third straight, and the Raptors are now within 1.5 games in the division with 12 games to play.
Grand Junction and Ogden will play their next seven games against one another with their next meeting coming on Sunday at 4:00.
