Ogden Raptors News Release

The Ogden Raptors had the tying run at third base in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't get him home, losing 3-2 to the Great Falls Voyagers Tuesday night at Centene Stadium.

Entering the bottom of the ninth, Ogden trailed 3-0. Devan Ahart drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. Ivan Vela, who entered the game as a defensive replacement, hit a two-run home run, the first of his career to cut the lead to 3-2. After a groundout, Stefen Henderson had his third hit of the game with a single to center field. Theo Alexander then delivered a pinch-hit single down the left-field line to put the tying run in scoring position. Once Melvin Santana flied out to center to move the runners to second and third, Colin Hering also flied out to center to end the game.

Both starters were great Tuesday night. Raptors starter Abdiel Velasquez was tagged with a tough-luck loss after pitching five innings and allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts.

Voyagers starter Chris Freudenberg earned his second win with six shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out five.

The Raptors and Voyagers will continue their four-game series Wednesday. John Richy will make his first career start for the Raptors against Matt Ball of the Voyagers. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
