VOYAGERS SWEEP MISSOULA
For the second time in 2014, Great Falls earned a sweep of a two-game series in Missoula, knocking off the Osprey 11-8 on Sunday. The Voyagers scored five in the first and stayed hot at the plate all game long, compiling a season-high 17 hits. In that five-run first, Mason Robbins hit his first professional homer, on his way to his second career three-RBI game. All nine Voyager starters had at least one hit in the contest, and six recorded multi-hit efforts including Toby Thomas who hit his first homer and triple of the season.
MORE ON THE OFFENSE
Coming into this weekend's series with Missoula, the Great Falls offense had not scored double-digit runs in a game in 2014. That changed during the sweep as Great Falls scored double digits in both games, including a season-high 13 on Saturday. The Voyagers then recorded a season-high 17 hits on Sunday, boosting their team batting average to .258.
PETER STAYS HOT
Infielder Jake Peter kept his hot streak rolling over the weekend, picking up three hits in both games against the Osprey. Peter has now hit safely in eight straight for Great Falls (16-34, .471) including five multi-hit efforts in that span. The streak has boosted his average to .431, the second-best in the Pioneer League among qualified hitters. The former Creighton Bluejay has also reached base in all 15 contests he has played in this year, and his .507 on-base percentage is the best in the league among all qualifiers.
NEXT UP: OGDEN
The Voyagers return home to begin a seven-game homestand tonight at Centene Stadium with the first four coming against the Ogden Raptors. The Raptors will be the first team from the South Division that Great Falls has played this season. Ogden is currently in last place in the PL South at 7-14, seven games behind first-place Orem.
